The Vaping Products Duty arrived on 1 October 2026. Naturally, many Pod Salt customers have asked us the same question. What does it mean for the bottle you buy every week?

The answer is reassuring. Most of what you value about Pod Salt stays exactly where it is. So in this guide, we walk through what is not changing, how our pre-duty stock works, and how we will keep you informed from here.

For the full picture of the duty itself, including every key date, our complete guide to the UK vape tax covers it in detail. This article focuses on you, the Pod Salt customer.

A quick recap of the duty

The Vaping Products Duty is a flat excise tax of £2.20 per 10ml on all vaping liquid. It applies whether a liquid contains nicotine or not, and VAT continues to apply on top. Alongside the duty, a new duty stamp now appears on the retail packaging of vaping products made or imported from 1 October.

That is the headline. Now, here is what it means for you.

What's not changing at Pod Salt

The formula in your bottle

First and foremost, the duty is a tax on volume. It has no bearing on what goes into the liquid. So every Pod Salt bottle follows the same recipe it did before October.

Our smoothness rests on four variables we have controlled since launch. These are the acid we use, the purity of our nicotine, the VG/PG ratio, and consistency from batch to batch. We use salicylic acid to create a smooth, rounded throat feel. None of that moves because of a tax.

Where and how we make it

Likewise, our team still makes Pod Salt in Preston, Lancashire, at Xyfil Ltd. We work to ISO 9001 accredited quality systems, in cleanroom conditions, with pharmaceutical-grade ingredients. In fact, we have made nic salts this way since 2018. That history makes Pod Salt one of the earliest dedicated nic salt brands in the UK.

The ranges you reach for

Similarly, your favourite ranges remain on the shelf. Core, Origin, Nexus, Fusions and Bar X are all still available, in the flavours and strengths you already know.

Our standards

Above all, our quality standards hold firm. That consistency earned us awards at Vape Jam London, World Vape Show Dubai, the Vapouround Awards and the UK Ecig Store Awards. We have no intention of trading it away.

Pre-duty stock: the price you expect, for now

Here is the part many customers ask about first. Under HMRC's transition rules, retailers can keep selling eligible stock made before 1 October 2026 until 31 March 2027. This older stock sits outside the new duty.

So while our pre-duty stock lasts, we will sell it on podsalt.com at the usual price you expect. You do not need to rush, and you do not need to change anything. Simply order as you normally would.

You may also notice that some of these bottles carry no duty stamp. That is completely normal during the transition. An unstamped bottle simply means we made it before the new rules began. Our guide to vaping duty stamps explains more about them them.

One small note, though. Our stockists set their own prices, so prices in shops may differ from ours.

When prices change, you'll hear it from us first

Eventually, our pre-duty stock will run out. At that point, new bottles will include the duty in their price. Before that happens, we will tell you directly. We will share the update by email and on our website, so the news never arrives as a surprise at checkout.

In the meantime, the easiest way to stay informed is to join our mailing list. That way, you will see any update the moment we announce it.

Why a 10ml nic salt still makes sense

Because the duty taxes volume rather than nicotine, a 10ml nic salt sits among the least affected formats. Large shortfills hold far more liquid, so they carry far more duty. For practical ways to manage your spend, read our guide to keeping your vaping costs down.

Steady, in every sense

Ultimately, a new tax will shape the price tag over time. Meanwhile, the care inside every bottle carries on exactly as before. You can count on the same smoothness, the same Preston craftsmanship and the same honest updates from us.
